Onomondo, a Copenhagen-headquartered specialist in IoT infrastructure and connectivity, has closed a funding round exceeding €100 million. Aspirity Partners is leading the investment and acquiring a majority stake, while EIFO, Denmark's state-backed investment vehicle and an existing shareholder since 2021, is deepening its commitment.
The company operates a proprietary, end-to-end technology architecture designed to manage the expanding universe of connected devices. Its infrastructure spans from individual devices through Radio Access Networks (RAN) to cloud systems, underpinned by patented Cloud Connectors and a custom-built technology suite.
Onomondo's platform incorporates SoftSIM technology alongside hybrid public and private network capabilities. The infrastructure permits connected devices to transition seamlessly between private networks and public global networks, enabling data collection and processing in environments where traditional connectivity proves challenging—aboard vessels, in transit, within manufacturing facilities and at remote industrial locations.
The company has deployed what is believed to be the world's largest private LTE network at sea, spanning more than 450 Maersk vessels. This deployment demonstrates the hybrid network capability at scale, allowing maritime assets to move between shipboard private networks and global public infrastructure.
Onomondo counts more than 500 customers across its platform, including Maersk, Carlsberg and Husqvarna. The company maintains native access to nearly 700 networks worldwide, granting enterprises comprehensive control and orchestration over their connected assets.
According to Henrik Aagaard, CTO and co-founder, the company has spent eight years addressing a fundamental infrastructure challenge. He stated: "AI has changed that. The next challenge is creating the right data and getting it to the right place. That is an infrastructure problem, and it is the problem we have spent eight years solving. Our network gives customers a consistent way to connect devices, create data and build intelligence into the physical world."
Rasmus Jensen, the company's CEO, explained the strategic distinction underlying Onomondo's approach. He noted: "We took a fundamentally different path by building the foundational infrastructure layer that was missing, a single, unified platform connecting the device, the network, and the cloud across global operations."
