Aspirity Partners, a London-headquartered investment firm, has secured a controlling interest in Onomondo, the Copenhagen-based operator of dedicated machine and sensor connectivity infrastructure. The transaction, unveiled Wednesday, forms part of a broader capital injection exceeding €100m and represents Aspirity's inaugural Nordic-region investment.
Denmark's EIFO, the country's sovereign investment vehicle, is simultaneously expanding its existing position in Onomondo, which it has supported since 2021. Completion of the transaction hinges on regulatory clearance and is anticipated for the opening quarter of 2027. Aspirity, which specializes in European technology services and fintech opportunities, closed its debut fund at over €875m in the previous year.
Operating within the Internet of Things sector, Onomondo provides connectivity solutions for networked equipment including industrial trackers and monitoring devices. The company maintains direct relationships with approximately 700 mobile networks globally and counts enterprises across more than 100 nations among its clientele, including shipping giant Maersk, beverage manufacturer Carlsberg, and equipment maker Husqvarna.
Onomondo's portfolio encompasses SoftSIM, a software-based alternative to traditional SIM cards, alongside technology enabling devices to seamlessly transition between proprietary and commercial networks. The company engineered a dedicated LTE infrastructure for Maersk spanning more than 450 vessels—a deployment Onomondo characterizes as the world's largest maritime private network. Currently, over 500 organizations leverage its platform.
The fresh capital will accelerate international expansion, support infrastructure scaling, and finance product development initiatives. According to the company, the fundamental challenge ahead involves "creating the right data and getting it to the right place. That is an infrastructure problem, and it is the problem we have spent eight years solving," explained Henrik Aagaard, Onomondo's co-founder and chief technology officer.
Rasmus Jensen, who assumed the chief executive role in 2025, characterized most competitors as offering basic network connectivity while delegating integration complexities to end users. Onomondo, by contrast, has constructed an integrated platform unifying device, network, and cloud infrastructure. For Maersk's operations, this architecture enables real-time cargo monitoring throughout transit rather than visibility limited to designated waypoints.
