The Tel Aviv-based company has wrapped up a $3.2 million pre-seed funding round and is launching its Seed round today, led by Aristagora VC—which secures a board position—plus Peter Kadas, Nika Capital, and RGE Group. For a hardware venture, the sum appears modest. The real story lies in who's already running the product: not as a logo on a pitch deck, but as active infrastructure within the NBA itself.

An AI sensor that turns a hoop into infrastructure

Swish's device sits above the rim, using cameras and lidar to measure every shot's accuracy, trajectory, and form, delivering immediate feedback to the player. No wearable required, no calibration needed, nothing to charge. Computer vision identifies individual players on the fly, meaning anyone can step up and shoot, with results automatically recorded to their own account without any manual check-in.

This capability transforms the device from a training tool into a platform. Since the sensor recognizes players without their input, multiple people can shoot on the same hoop simultaneously, each syncing to their own profile.

Swish secured the NBA early through the league's 2026 Launchpad program, and the relationship has evolved beyond typical pilot phases—the technology is currently operating and collecting data at NBA-run international basketball academies, and Hall of Famer Mitch Richmond has showcased it publicly.

The startup reports active installations across five locations in Europe, Asia, and the United States, with hundreds of players and tens of thousands of recorded shots accumulated to date.

A recent US deployment featured a multi-hoop competition where squads faced off in real time across different courts, all ranked on a unified leaderboard—a small demonstration of the larger vision: geography becomes irrelevant once all rims operate on the same connected system.

The founder has done this before

Bar-El's assured tone reflects experience. He spent nearly fifteen years developing Trax, a computer-vision platform that analyzes retail shelves—checking product availability, pricing accuracy, and planogram compliance—and saw the company reach a $3 billion valuation before stepping away from day-to-day leadership in 2024.

Swish applies the same methodology to a different domain: aim a camera at something people do constantly, process it with a real-time model, and generate data that didn't exist before.

Swish acknowledges that facial recognition powers its computer vision to identify players automatically—the exact mechanism that enables the frictionless experience—but this detail will face increasing scrutiny as the company enters jurisdictions with tighter biometric-data protections than Israel or many US states offer.

A company pursuing seamless identification across "every park hoop on Earth" will eventually confront, region by region, questions about obtaining biometric consent from minors—the core demographic in the Launchpad program—and what becomes of the data after a young player stops shooting.
