Freya Industries, a Stockholm-headquartered firm focused on security and defence technology, has completed a €532K (SEK 6 million) funding round led by Foundry Ventures, Longswan Ventures, Propel Capital, Saminvest AB via Annexstruktur, Schyssta Änglar, Sting, and a selection of private backers. The round was oversubscribed. The company manufactures connected sensors paired with proprietary software designed for drone detection, personal protection, and infrastructure security applications. Its offerings are already in use through security firms operating across five European nations.

The company's drone detection system merges multiple sensing techniques with internally developed artificial intelligence to pinpoint both the aircraft and its operator. An accompanying analytics dashboard offers real-time visibility across protected sites and personnel. Freya will deploy the fresh capital toward fulfilling existing customer commitments, growing its workforce, and accelerating its European expansion. Currently, demand is concentrated on its more affordable drone detection offerings.

How the technology works

Freya's product suite spans several domains within the security space. The company has built drone detection systems, intelligent personal safety devices, and sensors for protecting critical infrastructure. All components feed into a unified analytics platform that delivers continuous situational awareness and predictive risk assessment through machine learning models trained in-house. The engineering team has prioritized certification, security protocols, and durability to ensure hardware and software perform reliably in demanding operational settings.

The firm distributes its sensors through established security service providers, who deploy them at client locations and leverage Freya's analytics layer to create a consolidated operational view. According to Jonas Åström, Founder & CEO of Freya Industries, "Our sensors don't just record information, they proactively understand what is actually happening. The intelligence sits in the software, so they can be cheap enough to go everywhere, whether they protect a person or a site."

Market opportunity in drone detection

Security operators face mounting inquiries about drone threats, yet traditional detection solutions have historically carried prohibitive costs. Freya's presence across five European markets already demonstrates the scale of unmet demand. Marcus Gustring, Co-founder of Freya Industries, notes: "Security companies get asked about drones every week, but detection has cost more than the problem. That we already sell in five countries shows how big the gap is."

Beyond drone detection, Freya is developing intelligent personal alarm systems intended for professional security use and additional sensor technologies for infrastructure protection. The funding round closed in September.
