Meta has acquired Stilla, a Stockholm-based platform for deploying AI agents within organisations, in a deal announced shortly after the startup's eight-month run in the market. Founded by former Shopify leaders Siavash Ghorbani and Kaj Drobin, Stilla specialises in building AI systems that operate across a company's existing tools and workflows while maintaining shared context, permissions and enterprise-grade security. The acquisition price remains undisclosed. Stilla intends to keep its platform running for current users, while transferring its team and technology to Meta to strengthen the social media giant's business AI portfolio.

Stilla's platform was engineered around a core principle: AI agents require access to the same organisational knowledge that human workers possess. The system connects with applications including Slack, Linear, GitHub and Notion, creating a unified picture of team activity, project rationale and workflow progress. Rather than focusing on individual user tasks, Stilla branded its approach as "multiplayer AI," designed to coordinate across entire teams.

The company emerged from stealth in January 2026 with $5 million in pre-seed capital, led by General Catalyst. The funding round included backing from a notable roster of angel investors: Shopify President Harley Finkelstein, Hugging Face co-founder Thomas Wolf, ElevenLabs CEO Mati Staniszewski, Synthesia CEO Victor Riparbelli, HubSpot CMO Kieran Flanagan, Lovable CEO Anton Osika, Sana CEO Joel Hellermark, Polar CEO Birk Jernström, Jacob Wallenberg of Ramp, Legora CEO Max Junestrand, Cornershop co-founder Oskar Hjertonsson, and Epidemic Sound CEO Oscar Höglund. At launch, Stilla outlined plans to strengthen its infrastructure, broaden integrations with workplace platforms and refine coordination between human teams and AI systems.

According to reporting by Axios, Stilla's capabilities are expected to feed into Meta Business Agent, a tool designed to enable commercial transactions via WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram. Meta also signalled its intention to deepen its operational footprint in Sweden following the acquisition.

The transaction represents a compressed timeline from seed-stage startup to acquisition by a major technology corporation. Stilla launched publicly roughly eight months after securing its pre-seed round, making the Meta deal a notably swift exit for an early-stage, venture-backed company, though the transaction's financial terms have not been made public.
