Factorial Energy has entered into a strategic partnership with Mitsui Kinzoku to accelerate the manufacturing scale-up of solid-state batteries. The two companies will leverage Factorial's Solstice platform, which relies on sulfide-based chemistry, alongside Mitsui Kinzoku's proprietary solid sulfide electrolyte technology. Their collaboration is designed to bridge the gap between prototype development and full industrial production.

Under the agreement, Factorial will oversee cell architecture, process engineering, supply chain readiness, factory floor integration, and production verification. Mitsui Kinzoku brings decades of materials science experience to the venture, specifically in the field of sulfide electrolytes for next-generation battery systems.

Mitsui Kinzoku's Electrolyte Expertise

The Japanese materials company has spent years perfecting sulfide electrolyte chemistry for solid-state applications. It unveiled its A-SOLiD electrolyte technology in 2016 and is now constructing a dedicated manufacturing plant in Saitama, Japan, to produce the material at scale.

Factorial's Solstice battery is engineered to deliver exceptional energy density while maintaining superior thermal resilience—qualities that Mitsui Kinzoku's electrolyte materials are expected to enhance.

Factorial's Path to Market

Factorial has already begun moving toward commercialization, having secured its first customer orders for both passenger vehicle and aerospace sectors in 2026. The company went public on Nasdaq in June 2026 under the ticker FAC. Investors including IQT and POSCO Future M have backed the venture, and Factorial has previously collaborated with major automakers such as Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis to validate its battery technology.
