A major disruption has struck Anthropic's Claude ecosystem, with the company grappling with elevated error rates spanning Claude.ai, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, and its API infrastructure. Users across these platforms have encountered failed requests, inability to retrieve past conversations, and unexpected sign-in prompts.
Anthropic flagged the incident on its status page at 14:21 UTC, initially marking it as under investigation. Within seven minutes, at 14:28 UTC, the company expanded its alert to include the Claude API among the affected services.
The disruption's scope is particularly significant given the breadth of Anthropic's product portfolio it touches. Claude.ai serves as the company's main gateway for consumer users, while Claude Code and Cowork have become integral tools for developers and organizations. The API outage carries additional weight, as it underpins third-party applications built atop Claude's infrastructure.
As of now, Anthropic has not disclosed what triggered the outage or offered a timeline for restoration. The company has noted that users experiencing failures may succeed by retrying their requests.
This incident marks the second service disruption for Anthropic in less than a week. On September 22, the company reported elevated error rates affecting Claude Opus 5, Mythos 5.1, and Fable 5.1. That earlier incident was resolved within approximately one hour and thirty-eight minutes, according to archived status records.
