IBU-tec has cleared another regulatory hurdle for its planned LFP production facility in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany. Saxony-Anhalt's State Administration Office has granted approval for the new operating buildings that will house the production platform. The plant is engineered to deliver 15,000 metric tons of LFP battery material annually.
The approved construction includes a dedicated laboratory facility designed to test battery materials across various material compositions. IBU-tec has indicated that full-scale production will commence in early 2028.
The company is already advancing work on logistics infrastructure, data analytics capabilities, and IT infrastructure. Engineering specifications for production machinery are underway. A logistics building with roughly 2,000-pallet storage capacity has already had its steel framework installed.
PowerCo Locks in Full Capacity Through Long-Term Deal
The entire planned production volume has been committed through a long-term supply agreement. PowerCo has reserved all 15,000 metric tons of annual capacity for a decade at fixed pricing terms, according to IBU-tec.
IBU-tec characterizes the Bitterfeld-Wolfen facility as the continent's largest LFP production operation. The company also claims it will become Europe's sole industrial-scale producer of LFP cathode material when operations begin.
